Apple Kicks Off September Event with Augmented Reality Welcome Mat

We always know roughly when Apple events are coming, but when their new product events pop up, they’re always a pleasant tech refresher from the Cupertino tech giant.

This time, the Apple event news comes with a special treat, another beautiful augmented reality invitation.

Don’t Miss: Apple & Snapchat Use AR to Let You Travel on the New York Subway System via Apple Pay

The invite for Apple’s latest event reveals that the launch will take place on September 14 at 1 p.m. ET.

Although Apple hasn’t revealed what it will debut at next week’s event, rumors are circulating that it could include the iPhone 13, new Apple Watch devices, and perhaps even new AirPods and iPads.

But while we’re waiting for the new goodies to arrive, Apple gave us a virtual experience to play with that is among the most sophisticated it has ever offered for such an event.

Now, when you go to the Apple event web page using your iOS mobile device, you can launch an AR version of the Apple logo. Framed by neon lighting that appears to reflect off the floor of wherever you’ve placed it, the logo invites you to move forward into its center.

Once there, the music kicks off, the event’s date is displayed, and you can look around at the mountain range that is in line with the visual branding of Apple’s last few MacOS updates. It’s not incredibly interactive, but it’s definitely an immersive step up from Apple’s last AR invitation.

As for the oft-mentioned Apple Glass smartglasses, all solid rumors point to a 2022 release, but remember, Apple loves to give head fakes, so be prepared for anything next Tuesday.
